Whisky is an alcoholic drink made from fermented grains.
History[]
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom kept a supply of whisky in his office. When Cornelius Fudge visited the Prime Minister in 1993 to inform him of the escape of Sirius Black, he offered the drink to the Prime Minister. The Minister was momentarily insulted, thinking he was being offered his own whisky by a guest, but Fudge then conjured his own whisky for the both of them.[1]
The Winged horses that pull the Beauxbatons Carriage only drank single-malt whisky, which they were provided with by Rubeus Hagrid during Beauxbatons Academy of Magic visit to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the Triwizard Tournament during the 1994–1995 school year.[2][3]
Firewhisky appears to be a wizarding variant of this drink.
Behind the scenes[]
- This conjuration of whisky seems to violate the exception to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration which states that food cannot be conjured. However, it is possible that Fudge is merely Summoning it from somewhere else, or that alcoholic beverages, like other liquids such as water or gravy, are not considered food for the purposes of the law.
