Wigby, also known as the Dessert Master, was a house-elf that worked at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the 21st century.[3]
Biography[]
Wigby was the fifth member of his family to work in the kitchens at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His great-great-great grandfather Wooby was the first and was a famous house-elf in the 12th century.[3]
Wigby was very passionate about his work and liked to prepare various desserts for Hogwarts students, often at night and especially for those who had complimented his culinary skills. The desserts were shaped in ways that he found to be perfect and were enchanted with house-elf magic that made them move when shaped like magical creatures.[2] He was very popular with the students for providing these treats and liked to watch them eat his desserts so he could learn what their favourites were.[3]
In 2010, Wigby was cleaning a student's dorm room at night, when the student woke up, disturbed by their dream of eating cakes endlessly. Wigby asked whether the cake was delicious, since they often said his pastries were the stuff dreams were made of. When he got a positive answer, he asked whether he could visit the student more often, as their dreams were very helpful, to which the student also said yes.[2]
Wigby was later visited by this student in the kitchens and talked to them about the trifle he was working on. The student offered to ask around for preferences of ingredients and decorations to perfect the trifle.[2]
For the Hallowe'en feast, Wigby wanted to make special cupcakes. He encouraged the students to help and design their own cupcakes, even providing a student with their own cupcake stand in their secret room and working together on their creations. Wigby was delighted with their cupcakes.[6]
Personality and traits[]
Wigby described himself as a "house-elf through and through". He was devoted to making delicious food for students, and was able to build a good relationship with one of them who got to know him.[5] He was very enthusiastic about baking and was always trying to improve his creations. He was also thoughtful, eager to provide his treats to students and learn what their favourites were. He did not consider someone to be a proper house-elf if they were paid for their work and was very strict about house-elf traditions.[3]
Magical abilities and skills[]
- House-elf magic: Being a house-elf, Wigby was able to use magic accessible to his species.[2]
- Cooking skills: Wigby was highly proficient in cooking, having worked at the Hogwarts kitchens made very popular food for students.[3] He was especially good at making desserts, which earned him the title of "Dessert Master".[2]

- In-game dialogue originally stated that Wigby started working at Hogwarts eight-hundred years earlier.[7] However, an update in December 2023 changed this by only making Wigby the age of 111.[3]
