- "Brilliant! Then for our first lesson, I'll teach you how to create a cursed barrier. I picked this spell up from a Dark Wizard I fought during one of my Gringotts assignments. But instead of keeping anyone with a Dark Mark out... my modified version prevents anyone with a Dark Mark from getting in."
- —Bill Weasley explaining his development of this spell[src]
This cursed barrier was a curse (incantation unknown) that prevented anyone with a Dark Mark from entering. This curse was invented by William Weasley, which was a modified version of the Cursed barrier.[1]
History
During the 1989–1990 school year, Bill Weasley returned to Hogwarts to announce to sixth year students in classroom 3C that Albus Dumbledore had given him permission to tutor them in Defence Against the Dark Arts, given the ineffectiveness of their DADA professor that year. In their first informal lesson with them, he taught them how to cast his spell.[1]
