The Wiping Spell[3] (Tergeo)[1] was the incantation of a cleaning spell used to siphon liquids such as blood,[1] dust or grease,[4] and to clean objects.[5]

In Latin the verb tergere means "to rub off, wipe off, wipe dry, wipe clean, cleanse".
