The Wizard's father is the father of an wizard who despised muggles. He used all his magic to help his muggle neighbours illnesses and woes. However, rather then reveal the source of his magic to his neighbours, he pretended that his potions, charms, and antidotes sprang ready-made from a little cauldron. He died at a goodly age, leaving all his belongings to his only son, who has none of the qualities his father had. One of the belongings he left to his son was his Hopping pot, in hope that it would give him a lesson by giving him a taste of the Muggle's misery. The pot made the son's conscience awake and his son agreed to use his magic to help his muggle neighbours as he had done before him.

Biography

The father used his pot to brew potions and antidotes for other muggles when they needed his help.[1] These people included an old woman whom grandauther was afflicted by a crop of warts and a young woman whom baby was grievously ill.[1] However he did not reveal the source of his magic and pretended that his potions, charms, and antidotes sprang ready-made from the little cauldron he called his lucky cooking pot.[1]

Death

"This well-beloved wizard lived to a goodly age, then died, leaving all his chattels to his only son."

On his death, he leaves all his belongings to his only son, who has none of the qualities his father had. After his father's death, the son finds the pot and a single slipper inside it, together with a note from his father that reads, "In the fond hope, my son, that you will never need this".[1]

The wizard is described as a kind and generous man.[1] He seems to have pro-muggle leanings as he did all he could to help his muggle neighbours. He is kind and wise man, who rather then reveal the source of his magic to his neighbours, he pretended that his potions, charms, and antidotes sprang ready-made from a little cauldron. However his anti-muggle son was often quarreled by his father's habit of helping their neighbours, the wizard contined to help them.[1]

He had a difficult relashionship with his son as they had two different views of how things our.[1] The son thought that those who could not work magic were worthless and he often became quarreled by his father's habit of helping their neighbours.[1]

When his father only left him an old cooking pot and a slipper, he cursed his father's age-softened mind as he had expected nothing more or less then gold.[1] However as he was given the taste of the Muggle misery, his conscience awoke and he agreed to use his magic to help his muggle neighbours as his father did before him.[1]

Two of the known muggles that the wizard helped were a peasant whom he gave her an "special poultice" for her granddaughter's warts and he baded an young woman whom if she had run in any trouble with her baby, he would be glad to help.[1]
