The Wound-Cleaning Potion, or Wound Cleaning Potion,[2] was a healing potion that was used to sterilise wounds as a powerful antiseptic. It smoked and stung when applied.[1]
History[]
- "Today I will teach you how to correctly brew a Wound-Cleaning Potion. I suspect we'll need it with this careless class. The potion stings when applied, but I promise a failing grade will sting more."
- — Professor Snape to sixth-year Potions students[src]
During the 1989–1990 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Professor Severus Snape taught his sixth-years how to concoct this particular brew in Potions class.[2]
Snape had his seventh-years review this potion again in class during the 1990–1991 school year, expecting them to brew the potion successfully. This was useful for Jacob's sibling, as they were writing a report for Amos Diggory on biting beasts.[3]
Madam Pomfrey used it on Harry Potter when he was injured during the first task of the Triwizard Tournament on 23 November 1994, in the Hospital Wing at Hogwarts.[1]
