Yorkshire pudding is a dish that originated in Yorkshire, England. It is made from batter and most often served with roast beef, chicken, or any meal in which there is gravy.

History[]

Prior to her fifth year, Cressida Blume tried to use the Banishing Charm on her goblet nonverbally, but instead of succeeding, she accidentally launched a Yorkshire pudding into Professor Sharp's face, which he was rather unhappy about.[3]

It was served at the Start-of-Term Feast of 1991,[1] 1994[2] and possibly the years in between and through 1996; at one point, Ron accidentally sprayed Harry with bits of Yorkshire pudding due to speaking with his mouth full.[2] Yorkshire pudding was sometimes served during regular meals at Hogwarts as well. In March 1995, following a Care of Magical Creatures lesson on Nifflers, Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger had roast beef and Yorkshire pudding as part of their lunch.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

  • The Yorkshire pudding was originally designed to use the juices from the meat in a manner which would fill up the diners, in conjunction with vegetables, and served before the meat of the main course itself. It was therefore flavoured like the meat, but bulked out the meal in a far less expensive manner.
